British and Irish racing, a margin-free view of every race, and a free monthly archive

Issue #8

Eight days this time, and the biggest one is a new country. British and Irish racing is priced by three UK-licensed bookmakers alongside the Australian books that quote it, under <code>country=GB,IE</code>, with every runner's closing price archived at the off and a section of the site written for people who build on UK racing. Three new endpoints give the market's own margin-free view of a race, live and time-anchored. A free monthly sample of the closing-line archive is published under CC BY 4.0. Paying keys get a fresher next-to-go board, the archive carries Top 2, 3 and 4 prices, and a fortnight of early-August races that were filed under the wrong country have been corrected.

British and Irish racing

Asked by a tip-settlement marketplace and two modellers who needed international racing

• Three UK-licensed bookmakers price the British and Irish card: ladbrokes_uk (Ladbrokes and Coral share one trading platform, so one key), williamhill and betway_uk, served alongside the Australian books that quote those races. Filter with country=GB,IE, or country=IE for Irish racing alone. On Tuesday 6 October every race on the card carried three or four bookmakers.
• UK racecards name a race by its time, not a number, so the feed numbers each meeting's races in running order from the full day card; a book that publishes numbers corrects a derived one if they ever disagree.
• place_price for the UK books is derived from each-way terms, because UK bookmakers quote no place market: one plus the win odds multiplied by the each-way fraction, paying places_paid places. The next-to-go documentation and the field notes say so.
• A section of the site for UK racing developers starts at puntersedge.online/uk-racing-odds-api: a live board of the next race off, prices shown as fractions where they sit on the UK ladder, one page per bookmaker, Irish racing, the closing-price archive explained field by field, British greyhounds, a Python quickstart and an honest comparison with The Racing API. Every figure on it is measured when the page renders.
• The Python client (0.3.3) takes country, venue and bookmakers on racing calls; pip install -U puntersedge.
• Not served for British and Irish racing: results, starting prices and dividends. The results feed covers Australian and New Zealand racing.

The market's own view of a race

• /v1/racing/consensus: the margin-free probability of every runner, from every served bookmaker's price on the race, live.
• /v1/racing/intelligence and /intelligence/scan: the same view anchored to a time before the jump, so a model can ask what the market thought at T minus 60 and compare it with the close; the scan finds today's strongest moves. Plan gates are listed on /endpoints.
• /v1/racing/market-summary: the market's path per runner, stored at the jump, and in the bulk datasets as market_summary.
• Every closing line carries the consensus at the close (consensus_close_price, books_in_consensus_close), and /closing-lines and /price-paths carry Top 2, 3 and 4 prices at open and close.
• A refused archive call shows you five rows of what it refused. Plus-gated 403s carry a five-row sample, so you can see the shape before you upgrade.

Fresher boards, measured

Asked by a paying customer polling next-to-go

• A paying key reuses a stored next-to-go board for at most 20 seconds; free and internal keys keep 65. The documentation states the stored-board age per plan and age_basis on every bookmaker leg.

The archive

• A free monthly sample of the closing-line archive at puntersedge.online/datasets, CC BY 4.0, Parquet and CSV, with a public GitHub repository behind it.
• 1,078 races filed between 4 and 15 August carried the wrong country from before a connector fix; the archive now has them right.
• A scratching only Betfair reported no longer hides a runner two or more books still price, and a runner a book itself flags is recorded once, as that book's scratching.
• Our own results now lend race class and weight to the 10 August to 27 September races that lacked them, re-read from TABtouch's published history.
• NSW harness sectional times are on /v1/racing/results for NSW tracks once Harness Racing NSW publishes the meeting's sheet, usually a few days later.

The site

• Monthly or annual billing on the plan grid and the signup form; two months free on annual.
• Your console session lives in an HttpOnly cookie, not in the browser's local storage.
• The comparison pages were rebuilt: four full comparisons and one sourced hub instead of twenty-three thin ones.
• The Terms and the Privacy Policy were rewritten on 1 October to match the live data flows; the data licence in section 8.1 is unchanged.
