Odds formats explained
- Decimal (Australian standard): Total return per $1 staked including your stake back. Evens = 2.00. Profit = (odds − 1) × stake.
- American (Moneyline): Positive = profit on $100 stake. Negative = stake required to win $100. Evens = +100 or −100.
- Fractional (UK traditional): Profit per unit staked. Evens = 1/1. 3/2 means $3 profit for every $2 staked.
For edge and staking calculations, decimal odds are simplest. Use the EV Calculator or Kelly Calculator with the decimal equivalent.
