Second Only to NBA — And It's Not Close to the Rest
Our NBA model is the portfolio standout at 80% strike. But when it comes to consistency and volume, Rugby Union is the quiet achiever that members quickly fall in love with.
All-time record: 79% strike rate · 42W/11L · +49.0 units P&L. In April 2026: 10W/2L · 83% strike · +9.9u · 31.1% ROI.
Rugby Union shouldn't be this predictable — it's a complex, physical game with a huge number of variables. But several structural features make it unusually model-friendly.
Why Rugby Union Works So Well for Data Models
Scoring Is Structured and Cumulative
Rugby Union scores via tries (5pts), conversions (2pts), penalties (3pts), and drop goals (3pts). Unlike soccer where one deflected goal from 45 yards decides a match, Rugby Union's scoring is multiple and cumulative — teams with genuine quality differences tend to win by consistent margins. More scoring events per game means more reliable signal in the margin differentials the model uses.
Set-Piece Dominance Is Predictable
The scrum and lineout are highly repetitive, skill-based contests where quality differentials show up consistently. A team with a dominant scrum creates more penalties, more territory, more scoring opportunities — regardless of individual match conditions. The model identifies and weights set-piece advantages in matchups where the gap is significant.
Home Advantage Is Extreme
In Super Rugby and European competitions, home advantage is significantly stronger than in most team sports. Crowd atmosphere, altitude (Johannesburg), and travel distances (Australian teams flying to South Africa or Europe) all compound. Our model calibrates home advantage per competition — the Super Rugby weighting is substantially higher than the EPL, for example. This creates value when the market underestimates fortress venues like Ellis Park or Eden Park.
Fewer Upsets Than Soccer
Rugby Union has significantly fewer random upsets than soccer. The quality differential expresses itself over 80 minutes of physical, attritional play in ways that 90 minutes of soccer rarely delivers. This means more matches clear enough to generate a genuine tip above our 65% confidence threshold.

How to Bet Rugby Union from Australia
Super Rugby games run Friday and Saturday afternoons/evenings AEST — convenient timing. European competition runs Saturday and Sunday nights Australian time. Tips are posted at 7am AEST on match days, giving you time to shop the best price before kickoff.
We focus on head-to-head (match winner). Handicap betting in Rugby Union requires very precise margin assessment and we find the H2H market provides sufficient edge without the additional complexity.
Recent Results
Sample April 2026 wins: Bath vs Saracens (home advantage + set-piece edge correctly flagged), Bordeaux vs Leicester (home fortress correctly outweighing Leicester's recent form), and Leinster vs Edinburgh (model flagged Edinburgh fatigue after back-to-back European fixtures).
