The TAB (Totalisator Agency Board) has operated in Australia since the 1960s and remains the country's most recognised betting brand. TAB's odds on sports markets (NRL, AFL, NBA) are generally below Betfair Exchange and competitive with but slightly below Sportsbet and Neds. For head-to-head betting on major sports, TAB is rarely the price leader.
Where TAB genuinely leads: racing markets. Their tote (pari-mutuel) product pools money from all TAB accounts nationally, creating large prize pools that frequently produce better returns on longer-priced racing runners than fixed odds competitors. For horse racing punters, the TAB tote on outsiders and exotics (exactas, quinellas) is often the best-value product in the market.
